In this lesson series, students will explore the global inequalities that exist between regions of the world using ArcGIS Online. This is free mapping software provided by ESRI Canada that introduces students to digital mapping by simply creating an account. It will provide students with the opportunity to represent and analyze the spatial distribution of the Human Development Index (HDI) for two different time periods in order to determine if quality of life is changing throughout regions of the world. HDI is a measure of overall quality of life using a value between 0 and 1 where 1 is the best ranking possible.
